She's a young merchantwoman in 11th century West Africa.  Learn about her life, ancient Ghana and a few bartering tricks, too.

"Everywhere there is gold!
The royal dogs wear golden collars
and the king's horse is tied to a 30
pound nugget of gold." --Sia

West, Kizzy shares tales of pioneers
,picking cotton and an exciting escape
from slavery.

"Now, some people get the words free
and happy mixed up, think they're

means you got the right to make your own
hopes and hard times." -- Kizzy

most of their rent mpney they'da been
kicked out a long time ago.  All I know
is you see some of everybody there.
Garbagemen, policemen, high society
folk all mixed together and
whoopin' it up."               ---Ruby

Stand with Ella
Deep in the middle of the struggle for civil
rights in the 1960s, Ella shares the triumphs
and turrmoil in this time of bus rides and
boycotts, hope and heroes.

"You don't have to be Dr. King to
